Summary: I Love this Mower! 2004-08-09
Comment: I purchased this mower after my 30+ year old Lawnboy finally decided to die. I was reluctant to get a new mower because I liked my Lawnboy. No electric start, no mulcher, no self-propelled.....just a mower. I was able to bag my grass and that was important to me when selecting a new mower. I was used to a side discharge but this Toro is rear, which I have learned to like. The feature that I find to be the best is the Personal Pace RWD. This is so nice. I tried my neighbors self-propelled mower once and found myself either running after it or pushing it along. The Personal Pace propelled system is just that. It goes at your pace. If you stop, it stops. If you walk fast or slow, whatever, it adjusts. The electric starter has worked flawlessly for me. A very nice feature. I also like the handy foot-released lever used to get the handle out of the way to remove the bag. Overall this mower is easy to handle; not very bulky or heavy. That was also important to me.
If I were to find anything negative about this mower, I would have 2 small things: 1.) the battery compartment lid easily pops off, especially when the foot-released lever is used. This can be a little anoying, but not that big of a deal. 2.) emptying the bag can be a little messy. Some of the grass spills when disconecting from the mower. This too would not stop me from buying it. I have not used it to mulch so I cannot comment on that feature.
Anyway, long story short, I love this mower and would buy it again in a heartbeat. I recommend it to all my friends.

Summary: Electric Start Disappointment 2004-06-15
Comment: I purchased this lawnmower at Home Deport because of the electric starter. Physical problems make this a necessity for me. After a few starts, the fuse blew. Home Depot does not stock the fuses. The auto parts stores do not stock because it is a lawn mower fuse. Toro website says purchase parts only from authorized dealers. The authorized dealers do not stock these fuses, but they will order them - shipping for a $1.00 fuse is $8.00. The mower itself is wonderful, but I have literally thrown away the extra money for the electric starter, and I will never purchase a Toro product again.
