This review is from: Sunlawn 16-Inch Manual Push Reel Mower MM-2 (Lawn & Patio) I've been using this mower for about a month now and it is very nice on the well cared for parts of my lawn. Good stuff: Quiet, light, easy to adjust, no cords, no gas, no smell. The kids actually think it is fun to push around. I really don't mind pushing this thing around once a week where I hated getting my old corded model out. Bad stuff: Where there is taller grass (5"+) it often just flattens it. It also does not cut thicker grass at all. One could look at that as a positive because the crab grass now sticks out above the rest of the grass and you can pull it. Creeping grasses (the kinds the grow sideways first) will not get cut at all. I guess that's where the "suction" of a high speed mower will pull these blades up to get wacked. Or maybe I just have a lousy yard. It's certainly no putting greeen. All in all I am happy with this purchase, but like all mowers it is not perfect and know its limitations. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Sunlawn 16-Inch Manual Push Reel Mower MM-2 (Lawn & Patio) This is a great mower. The Pacific Nortwest lawns may benefit more from the 5 blade vs the 7. When I ordered I assumed that the 7 blade would be more effective. It does fine, but some taller grass I have do do twice in opposite direction. The Sunlawn company does say that the seven blade is good for all No. Amer. grass.
I am faster with this than when I used my power mower. It is also great to leave the clipings on the ground. My grass looked better in two weeks. I have a 4,000 sq ft lawn and I can more in two diecrtions faster then one with my power mower. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Sunlawn 16-Inch Manual Push Reel Mower MM-2 (Lawn & Patio) We are very disappointed with Sunlawn's MM-2 (manual reel mower) performance and their level of customer service. We wish we would have purchased a different brand of reel mower. Here's why:
We purchased our Sunlawn Manual Reel Mower (Model MM-2) in mid-June 2007. The mower's wheel kept slipping without engaging the mower blade in early September. We called to ask about the problem and were told that the MM-2 has had trouble with how the gears were assembled, and that we would need to replace both "left" and "right" gears, which would be mailed to us. Two weeks ago, we received two "left" gear replacements for our Sunlawn Model MM-2 (with no installation instructions), but not a "right" gear replacement. We called and confirmed that we should have received one "left" and one "right" gear replacement, which we were told would be shipped Overnight to us. We called last week to follow up as to when the part would arrive, but our message has not been...Read more |
