This is the safest and easiest to use mower I have ever used. There is no gas engine to be hard to start, no extension cord to mow or to electrocute you if the grass is wet, and yet it powers through even thick grass without balking.

When my gas rotary mower died after 22 years I really didn't want another one. My yard has a lot of obstacles and a lot of debris which can get picked up and thrown dangerously by a mower. (I don't leave this stuff in the grass, but neighborhood cats knock stuff off of tables.) I used a manual reel mower for a bit but it wasn't very effective and was very hard to use if the grass got too high. I ordered the MJ420C on a lark to see if it would work better than the manual mower.

For those looking to buy this mower you should first do your research on where a reel mower is best used. Reel mowers are best for bent type grasses (bent, bermuda 419, etc.) that are meant to be mowed very low (1 inch or lower). Anyone thinking of purchasing this mower for any grass that is better kept at higher than one inch should look into a rotary mower (I've had my Neuton electric rotary mower for 5 years, great mower, just not for lower cut grass like my new bermuda 419).

My experience with this mower was exactly what I was hoping for, a perfectly manicured lawn than rivals any golf course fairway. The four mowing heights on this mower is 1 3/4 inch, 1 1/2 inch, 1 inch, and 3/4 inch (I actually think the lowest setting is closer to 1/2 inch). Love this little Mower! Great for small yards. Battery holds a charge well. Only negative is the grass catcher does not stay on well.
