Previously I had an excellent snapper walk behind that was built in 1980 (same as me haha) I thought it worked so long that I should be loyal to the brand and buy a new one. Boy was I wrong! Those old guys from 1970's snapper must be rolling in their graves. I am a product design mechanical engineer and if my company made something like this I would leave. Bagger spits grass at you. When the bag is hooked on the discharge port there are three little uncovered spots around the perimeter of the bag inlet. These let little debris blow into your face the whole time you are mowing. The back wheel assemblies loosen over time. Check the torque on yours every few weeks or so. I couldn't figure out why I was scalping my yard, even though the height was set correctly the whole wheel assembly was loosening and adding camber to the wheels lowering the deck height. One eventually fell all the way off and i figured out...Read more 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Snapper 7800190 SE Series SPV22675HW 22-Inch Briggs & Stratton 190cc 675 Series FWD Self-Propelled Lawn Mower (Lawn & Patio) This is a nice model for a decent sized yard. I prefer the walk behind as opposed to a rider. Mower has a lot of power. The front drive is a little different than the rear drive, but not a problem. The major difference between this Snapper and the Toro it is replacing is the cutting height. The Snapper on its highest setting is still about 1/2 inch lower than the Toro. But, this is a first class mower for my needs. 4 of 5 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Snapper 7800190 SE Series SPV22675HW 22-Inch Briggs & Stratton 190cc 675 Series FWD Self-Propelled Lawn Mower (Lawn & Patio) I bought this to replace a 38 year old Craftsman. It sounds like it was a good machine. It wasn't It broke a hundred times I was just good at repairing it. Time to move on. So I researched and looked at this, and several other front wheel drive machines. One of the main requirements to me is the ease and availability of parts. It turns out Its as easy if not easier than Sears.
This machines best feature to me is the veriable speed control. The harder you squeeze the faster it goes. This is handy on hills. The machine has plenty of power and a screen type basket witch allows good pick up insted of leaves and such blowing out from underneath. The only "Con" so far is the spring loaded flap that rests on top of the basket has three small hollow spots that fill with clippings. No biggy. Would I recommend this machine to a friend? Yes I would. The Price with shipping was better than local stores too. |
