I ordered this trimmer. It is apparently manufactered by the same people as homelite and John Deere trimmers so can not expect too much quality--just a low price throwaway item to replace every year or two.
The first one arrived with a broken cover to the air filter area. Flimsy plastic cover. Called Amazon and recieved replacement--sent back original.
Replacement arrived as promised. Does not start-suspect defective fuel system(priming bulb pulls in air bubbles with gas). Called Poulan--Determined defective. Gave me name of local repair center. Didn't expect a long service life, but at least expect to work when first get it out of the box! Local independent repair service was fast and courteous. Gave them just the motor portion. On return started fine. Well balanced, not bad vibration. Shortly after started using, started running rough and smoking near string end. Swapped to an older attachment and finished job. I was apprehensive after reading other reviews, but I was able to get this one sale and couldn't pass up the deal. It worked wonderfully out of the box and after using it about 10 times, it is still starting easily and running well.
Update July 2010: Bought in 2007, still running and starts right up. I have abused this thing with the attachements to cut brush and it runs fine. No problems.

I bought this item from the military exchange at a discount. It broke down on the very first time I used it. The disk that delivers the line stopped rotating (so no cutting!) and the line wouldn't come out even though I tapped the disk on a smooth surface as directed (I had to stop the motor and pull out the line manually!). I returned it the same day. This is just another piece of junk!!!!
If you want a good weed trimmer, buy a STIHL. They are not discounted but supposedly work well and are serviced by their dealerships. That's what I am going to get.
