This review is from: Lawn Boy 10645 20-Inch 6.75-Gross-Torque Briggs & Stratton Gas Powered Lawn Mower (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio) Pros: This is a good mower. It doesn't use a primer and started right up on the first pull. It is CARB compliant. The wheels have a bulbous shape which makes it easier to maneuver than other models. It has a wide range of height settings; our yard has a lot of tall roots and at the highest setting I had no fear of clipping them. The handle doesn't have any outward-facing protrusions, making it easier to mow next to a chain link fence.
Cons: The plastic handles used to adjust the height seem a little flimsy, and in fact one of them looks like it is going to split in half before long. Assembly was fairly easy, although the knobs to attach the handle took some elbow grease to get on all the way. Also, one of the front wheels arrived 180 degrees out of alignment with the height settings and had to be rotated back into position. One disappointing thing about this mower is it did not come with a side discharge chute; instead, a little postcard saying that I would...Read more 11 of 12 people found the following review helpful: By clofazimine (MD) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) It stops working just 5 minutes after the first start. The reason is that this mower can hardly discharge the cut grass and the cut grass just got collected in the cutting chamber and finally smother the engine. OK, let's install the rear bag to collect the grass. No luck, the rear bag angle is so stupidly designed that the grass won't enter the bag. Finally after I carefully read the manual I realized only if you register this mower online, they will send you a side dicharge chute for free. After about one week, the chute came and got installed. Now I feel this is the best ever mower I have ever bought. 9 of 10 people found the following review helpful: By J.Lampe "SubiGTturbo" (Cincinnati, OH) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Lawn Boy 10645 20-Inch 6.75-Gross-Torque Briggs & Stratton Gas Powered Lawn Mower (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio) Purchased this Lawn-Boy with some reluctance since the one I owned years ago lasted only a few years and never cut well. The wheels were awkward too witht e the offset to accomodate the side chute. However... thus far, the new mower has been a joy to use. It mulches the leaves well, as I am surrounded by maples, ash and oaks. The noise is not bad and the steering is very easy. Starting is with one easy pull. I have a small yard so there was no need to buy a self propelled, thought it would be good exercise pushing it around too. If I had a large amount of property - touch up around trees and bushes would be a good use for this mower. Havent't tried the bag or the side chute; you have to send in for the free attachment chute, but it only takes a few weeks to arrive. Because we mulch in this city - bagging is not done much anymore, the trash man doesn't pick up grass clippings and composting is just too "green" for me. Leaves, once mulched up, along with the grass...Read more |
