Awesome mower so far. Cranks easy with pull or key. I mowed some tall grass and it did great. Plus, I have a difficult yard....obsticles, steep hills, rocks and roots. Wheels did great. Motor never even sounded like it would stall and it pulled great up the hill.
I looked at more expensive Honda's, Toro's & Huscavarna's and they each had good and bad points. The Brute was the only one that had everything that I wanted at a great price.
I will update this mid season.

First off..this mower was originally designed for Walmart at the $325 - $350 price point depending on location. If you paid $470 for this, then you were ripped off! I am just at the beginning of my third season now and I have a .29 acre property. The handle that moves the deck up and down has completely cracked and is about to break in two. The machine is now backfiring and the deck itself drops to the ground and skins my lawn every time i hit a bump!!! The bag as never sealed to the machine where it is connected to the mower. it's a cheap plastic flap that spews clippings up at your face, cause again..it never seals. It's not meant to...built very poorly. The wheels crack easily (beware!!), and the wheel covers fall off pretty quickly exposing the metal screws which will then rust. The assembly that holds the key start in place has broken apart and I have had to go buy parts and a new key for it.
My last mower lasted over 10 years. Now just entering my third season with this...Read more

This $470 lawn mower comes with a point-two-cent key chain. Why would Briggs & Stratton skimp on the one part of the mower the buyer has to hold every time they start the machine?
The hand bar has no soft covering of any kind, and has given me a blister when is used it without gloves.
My front wheel cover keeps falling off, but it seems like a good mower so far. I've used it twice. Electric start won't turn when it dies from being bogg'd down.
