Really is leakproof, and no gasoline smell in my garage. I'm filling my scooter tank out in the street in case of overfill, but it works as advertised and shuts off when the gas level in the tank reaches the nozzle. The translucent red plastic allows me to monitor the level in the gas can. The nozzle does not invert into the can like older styles so no fumes escape in handling. Only negatives are the advertised 2.5 gallons is way full so it's better to shoot for a 2+ gallon fill at the gas station, and when dispensing from the gas can the nozzle requires a fair bit of force to open the valve so make sure the tank you're pouring into is well braced. An excellent value for the money, no other plastic can compares and the metal cans out there with similar capabilities are 5 times as expensive.

I purchased this gas can November 2008. I am very sorry I bought it. Besides leaking at the nozzle when I pour gas from it the bottom of the gas can has rounded out just sitting on my garage floor. It has rounded so bad that I have to lean it against the garage wall for it stand up otherwise it would fall over. I keep it full at all times. I am not sure why this happened but I am disappointed in Briggs and Stratton. I expected better quality from such a company. I would not recommend this gas can. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Found that after a few months, the shape of the can rounded, making it near impossible to place flat on any surface. Also, the nozzle worked well for the first few times, then it would no longer slide to allow gas to flow. The maker replaced the nozzle, it failed too after the first time I stored the fuel.
Tried everything I could to get the nozzle to operate as designed (force, soaking in soapy water, WD 40) nothing worked.
Poorly designed, unsafe, save your money.
