The spreader came within a few days and was a little tricky to assemble but not too bad. It took me a couple of hours. I had to experiment a bit to assemble the rate control mechanism. I dont know how the directions could have been made clearer though. The spreader worked well enough the first (and only) use thus far. You just have to experiment with the feed rate. Time will tell how rugged the product turns out to be. I bought it to tow behind a mowing attachement on a farm tractor and had to rig up a hitch out far enough out so that it I did not hit the spreader or tend to bend the draw bar in tight turns. I had to string ropes for on/off feed control. It would have been nice if they had given some thought to towing it behind a tractor and offered some kind of kit.

My only negative thus far it that it has some plastic bushings where the axel goes through the frame and apparently around the shaft on the slinger. I'd prefer to have metal bushings. Time will tell...Read more

Assembly was staightforward.

This spreader has proven to be very durable and well built, after 2 seasons of use. Especially as I am not really using it for its intended purpose. I have used this unit for spreading winter control salted sand on my driveway.

The sand is much heavier than fertilizer or seed, and does not flow very well. I modified the spinning agitator in the hopper to better promote sand flow and also added one tire chain to the tire that drives the agitator. Without the tire chain the tire would skid and not turn the agitator on slippery icy surfaces. I also welded some flat bar paddles to the tire chain as well. This causes the spreader to hop up and down while being towed, to further aid in getting the sand to flow. I am sure a great deal more strain is being placed on the drive gear mechanism than was ever intended.
